OYSLGSC Releases 2023 Conversion Examination Results, Set To Conduct Oral Interview

The Oyo State Local Government Service Commission has released the year 2023 qualifying examination results of Officers seeking conversion in the Sub- Officer Cadres in the Local Government Service of Oyo State and oral interviews have been scheduled for Monday, 15th and Tuesday,16th July, 2024 for the candidates that earned scores above the benchmark.

Speaking to a selected media in his office at the State Secretariat, Ibadan, the Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Aderemi Ayodele disclosed that 490 local government staff participated in the qualifying examination which recorded significant improvement in terms of performance.

He, however, explained that successful candidates must perform satisfactorily well in both written and oral interview before they could be adjudged successful. He, therefore, urged all candidates attending the interview to do their best to meet the Commission set standard.

The Commission Chairman expressed gratitude to Governor Makinde for his magnanimous approval of the conduct of the conversion exercise, which he said has created window of opportunities for career progression of workers and has drastically reduced the incident of stagnation in the service.

Dr Ayodele further noted that since the inception of Governor Makinde’s administration, there is no officer that is deserving of promotion in the Local Government Service that has not been promoted.

Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Deacon Taiwo Olafimihan Adewale revealed that the Commission, in the recent times, had been fully engaged with some pressing service matters such as year 2022 Promotion exercise and the Staff audit which were carried out in all the 33 local governments and 35 Local Council Development Areas in the State and these had caused slight delay in releasing the Conversion examination results.

He added that it was worthwhile to note that under the present administration in the State, the Commission has assumed full execution of it’s core mandates bordering on appointment, promotion, discipline, training and posting of unified staff in the Local Government Service.

Deacon Adewale disclosed that in the last five years, over 9000 eligible Officers including those that have obtained additional qualifications have earned multiple promotions and elevations through conversion, advancement and upgrading by the Commission, adding that it was a significant feat in the anal of Local Government Service which he said was a credit to Governor Makinde’s administration.

The Permanent Secretary, therefore, urged local government staff to avail themselves of the current steady career progression being witnessed in the service under the present administration by seeking approval for further studies so as to gain more knowledge for improved performance at their duty posts.
