The Oyo State Chapter of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) on Friday commemorated the fourth day of its 40th Anniversary celebration with a special Jumu’ah service, during which members offered fervent prayers for enduring peace, unity, security and sustainable development in Nigeria. The prayer session, held at the mosque within the FOMWAN Secretariat along General Gas/Iyana Church Road, Akobo, Ibadan, brought together the association’s leaders, members, Islamic scholars and Muslim faithful in gratitude to Almighty Allah for four decades of dedicated service to humanity, the advancement of Muslim women and community development in Oyo State.
Delivering the Friday sermon, Imam AbdulWahab Ashipa urged Muslim women to remain steadfast in their faith, uphold exemplary moral values and continue contributing meaningfully to nation-building through education, charity and selfless community service. He emphasised that women occupy a strategic position in shaping the future of society, noting that the home remains the first institution where children are nurtured with the values, discipline and character required to build a peaceful, responsible and prosperous nation.

Imam Ashipa therefore urged responsible women not to neglect their mentorship responsibilities, saying they have a critical role to play in nurturing younger generations to become morally upright, responsible and God-fearing citizens.
He further encouraged Muslim women to remain committed to the teachings of Islam by promoting compassion, honesty, peaceful coexistence and service to humanity, describing these virtues as essential ingredients for building a peaceful and prosperous nation.
Speaking after the prayer session, the Amirah of FOMWAN, Oyo State, Dr. Lateefat Dairo, reaffirmed the association’s unwavering commitment to empowering women, supporting the less privileged, promoting girl-child education and strengthening family values in line with Islamic teachings.
Dr. Dairo described the 40th anniversary celebration as a moment of gratitude to Almighty Allah for sustaining the association over the past four decades and an opportunity to reflect on its numerous achievements in the areas of women empowerment, education, humanitarian service and community development.
She said the milestone also provides an avenue for FOMWAN to renew its commitment to expanding its humanitarian interventions, strengthening the spiritual growth of Muslim women and promoting initiatives that enhance the welfare of families and vulnerable members of society across Oyo State.
Special prayers were offered during the Jumu’ah service for the continued progress of FOMWAN, peace and stability in Oyo State, wisdom for leaders at all levels and enduring unity and prosperity for Nigeria.
Activities marking the 40th anniversary celebration will climax on Sunday, July 12, 2026, with a grand finale expected to attract eminent personalities, government officials, traditional rulers, Islamic scholars, community leaders and members of the association from across Oyo State and beyond.
