OYMASED, Environment Ministry Collaborate to Eradicate Street Trading

The Oyo State Mobilization Agency for Socio-Economic Development (OYMASED) is to partner the state Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources on eradication of street trading and Indiscriminate dumping of refuse.

The OYMASED’s Director General, Dr. Morohunkola Thomas, made this known while paying a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Alhaji Mojeed Olawale Mogbojunbola.

The Director General OYMASED, highlighted the importance of collaboration between the two agencies, stating that the Ministry’s expertise and data on environmental issues would be valuable in addressing the social problems of street trading and Indiscriminate refuse dumping.

‘The partnership between OYMASED and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources marks a significant step towards creating a more sustainable environment’, he added.

The Director General urged the Ministry to intensify enforcement efforts against street trading and Indiscriminate refuse dumping, which have become wide spread in the society. He emphasized the need for a collective effort to change the narrative and promote a cleaner, healthier environment.

In response, Alh. Mojeed Olawale Mogbonjubola commended the state Governor for establishing OYMASED, stressing the need for public enlightenment and mobilization to drive environmental change.

The Commissioner noted that despite the Ministry’s significant investments in environmental sanitation and enforcement, some individuals view these efforts as “wickedness” rather than recognizing the importance of a clean environment. He pledged to establish a team from the Ministry to provide necessary support to OYMASED.
