Ogun State Police Alert Residents On New Kidnapping Tactics

The Ogun State Police Command has issued a warning to residents to be aware of a new tactic used by kidnappers to target their victims. According to the Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, kidnappers are now laying siege at victims’ gates and attacking when they are about to enter their homes.

A manhunt has been launched for the kidnapping syndicate, which has been operating in the eastern part of the state, particularly in Sagamu, Iperu, Ikenne, Odogbolu, and Eruwon in the Ogun East Senatorial District.

The syndicate’s modus operandi is to wait for unsuspecting victims at their gates, then emerge from their hiding spots and zoom off with the car and remaining occupants.

Recent incidents include a case in Ikenne where a man was attacked while opening his gate, and his baby was taken away in the car.

Similarly, a woman, Nimota Busari, was abducted in Sagamu with her two children, who were later thrown out of the car.

The police are urging residents in remote areas to avoid night movements and arrive home before dark. The Commissioner of Police has directed business owners and residents in quiet areas to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.

Remember, vigilance is key to preventing kidnapping. Stay alert and report any suspicious activities to the police.”
