Team Oyo Strikes Gold and Silver at National Youth Games

Team Oyo has made a splash at the 8th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State, clinching its first sets of medals in swimming and karate events on Friday.

In the swimming pool at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Michelle Ibidapo made waves by winning gold in the 100m Individual Medley Girls event, showcasing her exceptional talent. Shortly after, Timileyin Olaiya took silver in the 50m Backstroke event, further solidifying Team Oyo’s dominance in the water.

At the Indoor Multipurpose Hall, Luke Vincent put up a valiant fight in the +50kg boys Karate final, ultimately securing a silver medal. Despite his spirited performance, Vincent fell short against his opponent from host state Delta, who took top honors.

According to Tobi Ajewole of BCOS, these medal wins mark a promising start for Team Oyo at the Games, with more events and opportunities to shine on the horizon.
