Senator (Dr) Sharafadeen Alli of Oyo South was named Legislator of the Year at the Independent Newspaper Annual Merit Award on Saturday, as eminent figures from Nigeria’s political and media circles gathered at Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos to celebrate his outstanding legislative impact and dedication to constituency and national development.
The recognition celebrated Senator Alli’s outstanding legislative contributions, impactful representation and commitment to the development of his constituency and the nation at large.

Dignitaries at the event commended the senator’s dedication to quality lawmaking, constituency projects and consistent advocacy for good governance and people-oriented policies in the National Assembly.
Earlier on Saturday, Senator Alli attended the annual Ibadan Cultural Festival held at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, where he joined traditional leaders and residents in celebrating Yoruba heritage.
The colourful cultural festival showcased rich traditions and unity among Ibadan indigenes, with the senator reaffirming his commitment to preserving cultural values and promoting community cohesion.
Following his participation at the cultural event, Senator Alli departed Ibadan for Lagos in the afternoon to attend the prestigious award ceremony later that evening.
His dual presence at both significant events showcased his strong connection to grassroots activities and national engagements, reflecting a balanced approach to leadership as well as representation.
