The APC Governorship Candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has unveiled a comprehensive “Teachers First” agenda, pledging far-reaching reforms in teachers’ welfare, professional development, security and working conditions if elected governor in 2027.
Alli, in a goodwill message to teachers in the state ahead of the 2026 World Teachers’ Day celebration, promised to place teachers at the centre of his administration’s education reform agenda, with an enhanced welfare package to be introduced within his first 100 days in office. The package, he said, would include improved car and housing loans, special rural hardship allowances and a dedicated teachers’ housing and mortgage scheme, with priority given to hard-to-staff areas.

He also pledged to clear backlogs of promotions, inter-zonal transfers and secondments through a transparent digital tracking portal, while introducing annual State Teachers’ Excellence Awards featuring cash prizes, vehicles, laptops and training grants, as well as special recognition for teachers serving in rural communities.
