Wife of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Queen (Barr.) Rashidat Olayinka Ladoja, has been honoured with the Women of Impact Award at the 8th Justice Aderemi Annual Lecture Series (JAALS) Foundation Awards in recognition of her outstanding contributions to humanitarian service, the legal profession, and the empowerment of women. The prestigious award was presented during the annual lecture themed, “Women and the Ballot: Strengthening Women’s Representation in Nigerian Politics,” held at the Aare Afe Babalola Bar Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Represented at the ceremony by Dr. Adefunke Olaniyan, Queen Rashidat Ladoja expressed profound appreciation to the JAALS Foundation for the honour, describing the award as both a recognition of her efforts and a renewed motivation to deepen her commitment to initiatives that uplift women and improve their quality of life. She reaffirmed her resolve to continue championing programmes that promote social development, compassion, gender equality, and inclusive growth for the benefit of society.
Delivering the Keynote Address, Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, encouraged Women to actively involve in politics, beginning from the grassroots, adding that, there should be no limitation to the level women could attain in politics.
Hon. Dabiri-Erewa said, women should support themselves, while urging the civil society organisations and the media to continue advocating for Women’s political participation.
She added that, mentorship for Women seeking public office would also help bridge the gender gap in the society, calling on the Women to mobilise themselves for better representation.
At the programme, Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa was also honoured with Award, along with other dignitaries from various Professions.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Director, JAALS Foundation, Dr Tolu Aderemi highlighted some of the achievements of the Foundation in supporting people, particularly the vulnerable groups with a view to giving them hope for a better life.
Some of the dignitaries present included, first female Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Folake Solanke, alongside other distinguished women who have made remarkable contributions to the Legal Profession, Governance, and National Development, among others.
