Oyo Pensioners Hail Gov Makinde Over Pension Review ……as he increases Minimum Pension to #25,000

The Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Oyo State Chapter, has expressed its heartfelt appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde for his unwavering commitment to the welfare of pensioners in the state. In a recent press release, the union announced that Governor Makinde has approved a pension review, which will see the minimum pensioner earn ₦25,000.¹

This review also includes a 33% pension increase that was initially slated for 2010, as well as consequential adjustments to pensions in 2019. Additionally, a 20% increase in pensions across the board and part of the ₦32,000 pension increase will be implemented. These changes will take effect from the January 2025 payment cycle.

The union’s State Chairman, Com. James Ayoade Osuntade, and State Secretary, Com (Dr) Olusegun Abatan, signed the press release, which concluded with a prayer for God’s continued guidance and benevolence upon Governor Makinde and his family.

This development is a significant win for pensioners in Oyo State, who have been advocating for improved benefits before the present administration.

The NUP, Oyo State Chapter, has been actively engaged with the state government, under the charismatic leadership of Engr. Seyi Makinde, to address pension-related issues.
