Oluyole League of Imams and Alfas Honors LG Boss, Akeem Olatunji as Baba Isale Musulumi

In recognition of his contributions towards the growth of Islam, welfare of its leadership, and the entire Muslim community, the Oluyole local government League of Imams and Alfas will tomorrow (Friday) turban the Executive Chairman of the Council, Engr. Akeem Olatunji as the new Baba Isale Musulumi of Oluyole.

The installation and turban ceremony, which is expected to witness the presence of eminent personalities, top state government officials as well as political stalwarts will hold at the Central Mosque of Oluyole local government, Idi-Ayunre, Ibadan.

The Special Assistant on Media to the Council Chairman, Mr Qudus Omoola, disclosed this in a statement issued in Ibadan on Thursday and made available to newsmen.

The title of Baba Isale Musulumi, which translates to the Godfather of Muslim community in Oluyole local government, is a highly respected and reverred position within the Islamic circles.

Olatunji’s appointment will be formalized with the traditional turbaning ceremony, which symbolizes his acceptance of the responsibilities that come with the leadership role within the Muslim Community.

The statement also indicates that the Oluyole League of Imams and Alfas which is the umbrella body for all Islamic leaders in Oluyole local government area, has expressed their confidence in Olatunji’s leadership abilities and his deep commitment to the growth and unity of the Muslim Community.

Confirming the development, the Executive Chairman of Oluyole local government emphasized his commitment to promoting unity among Muslims in Oluyole while working hard to deepen peace, interfaith tolerance, and ensuring that Islamic teachings continue to guide and uplift the people.

“This is a sacred responsibility that I do not take lightly. I will work tirelessly to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood within Oluyole local government and ensure that the teachings of Islam remain central in our lives.”

“This is because governance and religion are interwoven and we can not tend to shy away from one. That’s why I’m seriously committed to the alignment of my administration with the vision of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, in championing the course of public peace and inter religious harmony.

“As far as I’m concerned, there is none and there can be no alternative to peace. So, for us in Oluyole local government, we’re replicating the open door policy and inclusive governance of Governor Makinde to ensure nobody is left behind in the implementation of our policies and programs.” Olatunji said.
