Olubadan honoured with NIOB fellowship

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin (Ige Olakulehin 1), has received the prestigious Honorary Fellowship of the Nigerian Institute of Building on the sidelines of the two-day South-West Housing Exhibition in Ibadan.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Olubadan, Gbenga Ayoade, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Tuesday said the Executive Committee of the FNIOB conferred the Honorary Fellowship at the Olubadan Palace, Oke Aremo, Ibadan.

According to the statement, the conferment took place after the opening ceremonies and paper presentations of the 2 day South-West Housing exhibition at Manhattan Hall, Eleyele, Ibadan.
Conferring the honorary fellowship, the President of NIOB Builder, Alderton Ewa, disclosed that the monarch’s contributions to the built environment and the Nigerian nation are remarkable.

Ewa said, “As a graduate of Building Technology, the paramount ruler possesses and has demonstrated a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the construction industry throughout the years.

“The institute is proud to recognise your outstanding achievements by conferring upon you the highest honour within our institution. This recognition is a testament to your unwavering commitment to excellence and your dedication to the advancement of the building profession.”

The NIOB president believed that the acceptance of the honour by the Olubadan of Ibadan would further elevate the status of the NIOB and inspire its members to strive for greater heights.
He added that the guidance and support of Olubadan will be invaluable to shape a better future for Nigeria and the institute.
Olubadan, who spoke through Are Ago Balogun of Ibadanland, Chief Lateef Akintola, appreciated the honour bestowed on him.
