Nigeria’s Economic Reforms on Right Track – Omo-Agege Assures in Xmas Message

Former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege is urging Nigerians to be patient and persevere amid economic hardship, assuring that President Bola Tinubu’s policies are yielding positive results.

In his Christmas message, Omo-Agege acknowledged the challenges faced by the nation but expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future.

”As we rejoice, let us not forget the numerous challenges we face as a nation. I’m optimistic about the future of Nigeria,” Mr Omo-Agege said in his Christmas message to Nigerians on Wednesday.

He stated that the removal of fuel subsidy and unification of the exchange rates, although challenging, remained necessary steps toward a more prosperous future for the nation.

“Nonetheless, it’s essential to recognise that these reforms are designed to address decades of economic mismanagement and put Nigeria on a path to sustainable growth,” said Mr Omo-Agege.

He added, “Encouragingly, we are already witnessing positive gains, including improved growth rates, reduced imports, increased exports, higher incomes for farmers, and increased FAAC allocations to state and local governments.”

He said transitioning Nigeria into a productive and self-sufficient nation required patience and perseverance.

“The gains demonstrate that the reforms are yielding positive results, and with continued patience and perseverance, Nigeria can overcome current challenges and emerge stronger, more resilient, and more prosperous,” he said.

Mr Omo-Agege urged Nigerians to rally behind President Bola Tinubu’s administration as they steered Nigeria through a critical economic restructuring process and implement the Budget of Restoration: Securing Peace and Rebuilding Prosperity.

He noted that Delta has faced numerous challenges, including insecurity, poor infrastructure, inadequate healthcare, a struggling economy, and underpaid workers.

”Many communities are left in dire need due to lack of transparency and accountability in funds allocation,” he stated.

Mr Omo-Agege lamented that agriculture had been neglected, pledging his commitment to driving change in the state.
