The Special Assistant on Islamic Affairs to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Sheikh Abdulrasheed AbdulAzeez has felicitated Muslim faithful in the state on this year’s celebration of Mawlid Nabiyy, charging them to ensure the culture of peaceful coexistence and always ready to be our brothers’ keeper in accordance with the teachings and lifestyle of Prophet Mohammed for the betterment of the society.
Alhaji Abdulazeez who stated this in a statement issued on Monday while congratulating his fellow Muslim brothers and sisters, said they should always act in line with the directive of the holy Qur’an as well as the Hadith of Prophet Mohammed by applying its lessons in their daily activities.
“I wish to seize this opportunity to express my deep gratitude to His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his wonderful support to Islam and Muslim communities as well as Islamic organizations in the state, particularly his recent unprecedented support and welfare packages given to the 2024 state Pilgrims to Saudi Arabia. It was in recognition of the laudable support that the Independent Hajj Reporters honoured Governor Makinde with the Award of Hajji-2024 Best Supporting Governor in the South” he added.
Imam Abdulazeez also expressed his sincere appreciation to the state Deputy Governor, Chief Adebayo Lawal; the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta states, Alhaji Dawud Makanjuola Akinola (De-Damak); the Grand Imam of Oyo State, Sheikh Abubakry Agbotomokekere and the leadership of Muslim Ummah in the state and in all the five Zones for their support to the state programmes and activities.
He thereafter enjoined muslim faithful to celebrate the event in a way that reflect and in line with the teachings and lifestyle of Prophet Mohammed which is humility and commitment to humanitarian service.
In his words: “I wish to implore Islamic Clerics across the state not to relent in their prayers for the administration of Engr. Seyi Makinde, the people of Oyo State and Nigeria at large so as to ensure continuous peace and progress in our land” he concluded.
