Ibadan North West LG Boss Bans Carnival, Fireworks During Festive Period

The Executive Chairman of Ibadan Northwest Local Government, Alh AbdulRahman Olanrewaju Adepoju has banned carnivals and cautioned against illegal gatherings and use of fireworks within the nooks and crannies of the Council area during the festive period.

According to a release issued by Ramat Alade, Head of Information and Public Relations Unit of the Council, the Chairman gave the warnings following a security report on emergence of hoodlums in the Council area.

According to the Chairman, as the year runs to an end, all and sundry are preparing for the yuletide celebrations, some groups are also planning to organise carnivals to distrupt the peaceful co-existence in the Council area hence the need for immediate actions to prevent any carnival or illegal gathering before, during and after the yuletide season.

He reiterated that granites and sand should be properly offloaded and use immediately to prevent blockage of drainages and traffic congestions in the affected areas.

In the same vein, the Executive Chairman has frowned at illegal dumping of refuse in Oke Seni River, Gege river and environs. He affirmed that anyone caught by the task force will be fined and punished in accordance with the law.

Alh Adepoju asserted that his administration is determined to fulfill his campaign promises through provision of infrastructural facilities and securing lives and properties of the citizenry hence the need for all and sundry to abide by the guiding rules for conducive living environment.

The Chairman reiterated that the present administration under the leadership of His Excellency, Engr Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde is not out to witch-hunt or inconvenient anyone, rather to improve their living conditions by embarking on people oriented projects and ensuring serene environment for all citizens.
