Emmanuel Alayande Varsity Appoints New Directors of Works and Audit

The Governing Council, Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo has appointed Engr. Jimoh Akintunde Bello and Mr. Wasiu Abiodun Ganiyu as the institution’s Directors of Work and Audit respectively.

According to a press release made available by the University’s Media and Public Relations Officer, ‘Wale Adeoye quoting a statement from Mrs. Olubunmi Siju’ Asunmo, Registrar and Secretary to Council, “In line with the enabling law of the Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo and the acknowledgement of the exceptional performances of both Engr. Jimoh Akintunde Bello and Mr. Wasiu Abiodun Ganiyu during the interview processes for the positions of Directors of Work and Audit, respectively, the Governing Council has approved their appointments accordingly.” Their appointments take effect from December 1, 2024.

Engr. Jimoh Akintunde Bello, FNSE, the new Director of Works, was born on March 27, 1967. He attended Baptist Primary School, Ilorin, between 1972 and 1977 for his primary education. He later moved to Ilorin Grammar School, Ilorin, between 1977 and 1982 for his WASC. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering (Second Class Upper Division) and a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (Civil/Structure) from the University of Benin (1985-1990) and the University of Ilorin (2007-2010), respectively. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and a Registered Engineer with the Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). Engr. Bello, until his appointment, was a Deputy Director of Works (Physical Development and Construction), Works and Maintenance Department, University of Ibadan since 2012, having served in several private engineering firms. He takes over from Arc. Hammed Olawale Amuda who has contributed significantly to the development of the university and is due for retirement on December 31, 2024.

The new Director of Audit, Mr. Wasiu Abiodun Ganiyu, who takes over from the Deputy Director, Mr Michael Abiodun Dairo, was born on March 22, 1972. He attended Humani Alaga High School (Formally Sango High School), Sango, Ibadan, between 1983 and 1988 for WASSCE. He thereafter proceeded to The Polytechnic, Ibadan, between 1989 and 1995 for his OND and HND Certificates in Banking and Finance. Not satisfied, he obtained his Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso in 2004. In his thirst for a university degree, he enrolled at the Imo State University, Owerri in 2005 and graduated with a B.Sc (Hons.) in Economics with a 2nd Class Upper Division in 2007. In 2008-2010, the Ibadan-born Certified Auditor moved to the University of Ibadan for his M.B.A. (Finance Option) and again in 2018 – 2021 for his M.Sc. in Accounting.

In his determined will, the renowned accountant applied as an undergraduate student in the Department of Accounting at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso between 2020-2022 and graduated with a B.Sc. (Hons.) Accounting with 2nd Class Upper Division. It is to be noted that he is currently a PhD student in Accounting at the same University. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA) and Associate Chartered System Accountant – USA (ACSA), among others.

Until his appointment, Mr. Ganiyu, who is a staff member of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, had served as the Director of Audit between 2012 and 2017 at the institution. He has equally served in various capacities in the Directorate of Audit, LAUTECH. He is happily married and blessed with upwardly mobile children.
