Demise of Kanran: I’m Still Overwhelmingly Shocked – Femi Adebayo

Actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo Salami has paid tributes to veteran actor Chief Kanran, who recently passed away.

Femi expressed struggle to come to terms with the sudden loss, noting that it was particularly overwhelming since Chief Kanran had just finished working on one of his projects.

In his heartfelt message, Femi Adebayo prayed that Allah forgives Chief Kanran’s shortcomings and grants him eternal rest.

He also prayed for strength and comfort for the actor’s family as they navigate this difficult time.

He wrote on Instagram: “Still struggling to come to terms with the sudden passing of Chief Segun Kehinde Akinremi @chiefkanran

“This loss is particularly overwhelming, as he had just concluded his last acting performance on one of my projects.

“May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, grant him eternal rest in Aljannah Firdaus, be with his family, and give them the strength to carry through this loss. Rest well, sir”.

Kanran, famous for playing a wealthy man in movies, started acting professionally in 1975.

He played the role of Kurunmi in a play of the same title written by Prof. Ola Rotimi.

He also appeared in some episodes of ‘Mirror in the Sun’, which marked the beginning of his transition from stage to the screen.

He played the role of a businessman in a soap opera, ‘Images’.

His breakthrough was on stage when he acted in Langbodo, Nigeria’s drama entry to Festac ’77 at the National Arts Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos.

On television, he acted as Alaafin Kanran in a drama shown on Lagos Television, October 1, 1988. Online movie streaming services
