A Life of Service: Celebrating Chief Oladokun, Ex-Deputy Gov and A Statesman of Integrity @ 75

Political leaders across the country have been urged to always perform their duties with integrity and a fear of God to drive socio-economic growth. This call was made on Sunday by Rev’d Dr Edward Kehinde Alabi of Malete Baptist Church, Ibadan, during a thanksgiving service marking the 75th birthday of Chief Iyiola Oladokun, a prominent APC chieftain and former Oyo State Deputy Governor. Rev’d Alabi praised Chief Oladokun as an upright politician, true gentleman, and statesman of integrity, citing his dedication and selfless service to Oyo State.

Rev’d Alabi described Chief Oladokun as an upright politician, a true gentleman and a statesman of integrity.

In his words: “Your dedication, humility, and selfless service to Oyo State, particularly during your tenure as Deputy Governor under the late Governor Lam Adesina, remain an inspiration to many,” he stated.

“Your unassuming nature and commitment to public service have earned you respect and admiration from all who know you,” he added.

Rev’d Alabi thereafter prayed for the celebrant for many more years of good health, happiness, and fulfillment in righteousness and peace.

He also prayed for his immediate and extended families as well as political associates and other well wishers.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after the Thanksgiving service, Chief Oladokun expressed his gratitude to God for the gift of life and the privilege to appreciate God on this milestone birthday with family, friends, and well-wishers.

According to him, “I regret to inform you that we have cancelled the grand reception initially planned to mark this occasion. This decision was necessitated by unexpected incident in the family. The extended families are still grieving, and we felt it would be insensitive to proceed with the celebration as planned.

Present at the thanksgiving service were the celebrant’s wife, Chief Bisi Oladokun; his daughter and her husband, Mr & Mrs Seyi & Kolawole Raji; Mr & Mrs Femi Adeyanju, Otunba & Mrs Gbola Adetunji, Mr & Prof. (Mrs) Ayo Akanbi, Dr & Mrs Christopher Amuwa, Prof & Mrs Oladele, Pastor & Mrs Joseph Adesope, Mrs Folake Tokunbo-Ishola and Alhaji Kunle Kareem.
