The Archbishop of Ibadan Ecclesiastical Province and Bishop of Ibadan North Anglican Diocese, His Grace Most Rev. Williams Oluwarotimi Aladekugbe, has decried the growing disregard for human life in Nigeria, warning that politicians appear more focused on the 2027 elections and campaign rallies than on the nation’s security crisis. Speaking during the Pentecost service at the Cathedral of St. Peter, Aremo, Ibadan, on Sunday, he lamented that rising terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping have pushed the Church and Nigerian youths to the brink, with little reassurance left to offer.
“The level at which terrorism , banditry and kidnapping in Nigeria today is pushing the church and our youths to edge adding that we don’t have words of calm for our youths again and this portends danger for our country Nigeria”, the Cleric lamented

“We are grieved and pained about the brutal killings, kidnapping and terrorism by bandits and Fulani herdsmen going on in Nigeria unchecked due to infiltration and compromise by our political leaders which has discouraged investors from investing in our country and our brilliant and best brains to leave the country to seek for greener pastures in the other nations of the world where there is peaceful co -existence and human lives have value, the Archbishop further stressed
The Archbishop seriously noted the killings of Nigerian soldiers, police men and other security operatives including our local hunters and vigilantes because of the obsolete fire arms they use compared with the surphiscated modern guns in the hands of the terrorists adding that it is high time our political leaders wake from their slumber to save Nigeria from total collapse
He finally pray the Almighty God to redirect the minds of the politicians governing us to remain focused on the security of life and property of the people
