Makinde Felicitates Tribune Editor, Olagunju, on Conferment of Academy of Letter’s Fellowship

Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has congratulated Dr Lasisi Olagunju, Saturday Tribune Editor, on the conferment of the Nigerian Academy of Letters’ fellowship on him.
The Academy, which is the apex body for advancing scholarship and public interest in arts and literature in Nigeria, on Tuesday named Olagunju alongside 15 others as fellows in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the humanities in Nigeria and beyond.
Olagunju is one of three non-scholars so recognized by the Academy.
The governor lauded Dr Olagunju for the feat, saying the award-winning columnist very well deserved the fellowship.
Makinde said, “I felicitate Dr Lasisi Olagunju on this remarkable recognition by the Nigerian Academy of Letters.
“Dr Olagunju has elevated the art of column writing in Nigeria with his profoundly incisive and inspiring analyses rendered in alluring language laced with wit and history.
“He is a writer with a rare skill of bringing the past to the present to make a point.
“His mastery of the craft has made his column so captivating and the Nigerian Tribune so fascinating.
“Hence, time and time again, Dr Olagunju has won awards that have put him in a class of his own.
“This fellowship by the Nigerian Academy of Letters is a confirmation that he has earned his place among the country’s greats in the fields of art, journalism and humanities.
“I charge him to see this additional epaulette on his shoulder as a challenge to do more for humanity.”
