UN Tourism Delegation Walks in the Clouds in Ekiti State

The United Nations Tourism Delegation, which arrived in Ekiti State on Saturday, experienced an extraordinary phenomenon yesterday that captivated their hearts and minds.
Under the guidance of Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development led by Barrister Wale Ojo-Lanre, the delegation found themselves quite literally walking in the clouds at the breathtaking Oluwaleto Farms, perched atop the majestic Mt. Golgotha , Efon Alaye,Ekiti State

Mr. Marcel Leijzer, along with esteemed colleagues Precious Ovahabonosa and Okemini Dike, the delegation is in Nigeria to lend their technical expertise in shaping the Ekiti State Tourism Development Master Plan. However, it was the stunning natural beauty of Efon Alaye that stole the show and left an indelible mark on their visit yesterday.

As the delegation made their way up the winding paths of Mt. Golgotha, a mist enveloped the landscape, creating an ethereal atmosphere that felt like a scene from a dream.
The lush green hills rolled majestically into the distance, kissed by clouds that danced low, obscuring the valley below. It was a surreal moment where the air was crisp, and the scent of damp earth mingled with the sweet, fresh aroma of the surrounding foliage.

Oluwaleto Farms is a hidden gem here in Ekiti that showcases the incredible potential of our state natural beauty and agricultural diversity
In his remark , Mr. Marcel Leijzer his voice filled with awe .“Experiencing this enchanting landscape firsthand reminds us of the immense value of eco-tourism, not just for visitors but for the local communities as well.”

The delegation engaged in discussions with local farmers and entrepreneurs, exploring sustainable agricultural practices that can be integrated into the tourism narrative of Ekiti.
The synergy between tourism and agriculture was palpable as they envisioned a future where local produce could become a focal point for tourism attractions.

As the delegation stood at the summit of Mt. Golgotha, they marveled at the breathtaking panoramic views that emerged as the clouds began to lift, revealing vibrant green valleys interspersed with quaint rural settlements. The sight underscored the profound potential of the Ekiti landscape to captivate tourists from around the globe.

Precious Ovahabonosa expressed his passion for the project, stating, “This experience has invigorated our mission. The landscapes here are not just beautiful; they hold stories, culture, and countless opportunities for tourism that respects and enhances the natural environment.”

The visit concluded with an exhilarating walk back down the mountain, the group’s spirit uplifted by the picturesque surroundings and the promise of what lies ahead for Ekiti State tourism. As they prepared to leave Oluwaleto Farms, the mist began to lift entirely, revealing a bright sunlit day, symbolizing hope and potential for the tourism industry in Nigeria.

With plans for further consultations and development strategies already in motion, the UN Tourism Delegation experienced and stored the memories of walking in the clouds, both literally and figuratively.
