Toheeb Amuda wins Young Arbitration Practitioner of the Year Award at 2024 Africa Arbitration Awards

Toheeb Amuda has been recognised as the Young Arbitration Practitioner of the Year at the 2024 Africa Arbitration Awards (AAA). This prestigious award, which is part of the broader East Africa International Arbitration Conference (EAIAC), highlights exceptional talent under 40 years old in the field of international arbitration.

The AAA serves to honor outstanding contributions to arbitration in Africa, celebrating individuals and teams who have demonstrated leadership, innovation, and excellence in the arbitration community.

Toheeb Amuda is the Managing Partner at Lawvocate Attorneys, a firm of lawyers, investment consultants, and arbitrators based in Lagos, Nigeria.

He is a qualified lawyer with cognate experience in international arbitration and commercial litigation. Toheeb holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) degree in International Business Law with Distinction from the University of Law, London, United Kingdom.

His legal practice has seen him involved in a wide array of commercial and investment arbitrations under the rules of prominent international bodies such as the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC), American Arbitration Association/International Centre for Dispute Resolution (AAA/ICDR), Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration Lagos (RCICAL), and United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), as both counsel and tribunal secretary.

Additionally, he has represented clients in litigation before Nigeria’s superior courts, including the High Court, Federal High Court, National Industrial Court, Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court. He has also assisted in litigation in the courts of England and Wales, from the County Courts to the Supreme Court.

In his congratulatory message, Toheeb’s father, Architect Hammed Olawale Amuda expressed his joy over this feat attained by his son.
