Oyo Sports Commissioner Congratulates Aruna Quadri on ITTF Africa Cup Victory ……applauds Oyo SWAN’s extensive coverage of sports

Oyo State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Honourable Wasilat Adegoke, has extended her heartfelt congratulations to the Oyo born table tennis star, Aruna Quadri, following his remarkable victory in clinching the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Africa Cup title.

Quadri achieved a resounding victory in the final match of the 2024 ITTF Africa Cup in Rwanda, reclaiming his title and sealing his place as Africa’s table tennis champion and legend.

Speaking while hosting the newly elected Executives of Oyo SWAN at her office on Thursday, Miss Adegoke commended Quadri for his outstanding performance and dedication to the sport.

The Commissioner expressed her belief that Quadri’s triumph would serve as a source of motivation for young talents in Oyo State to aspire to greatness and excel both on the local and international stages.

The Commissioner took the opportunity of the courtesy visit to once again congratulate the newly elected Executives of the State Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), led by Chairman Comrade Ayomiku Ajibola.

While highlighting the pivotal role of the sporting media in showcasing the achievements and challenges within the sports sector, the Commissioner applauded the commitment of Oyo SWAN to promoting sports journalism and coverage in the state.

In his response to the Commissioner’s remarks, the Chairman of the visiting team of sports journalists, Comrade Ayomiku Ajibola expressed gratitude to the Commissioner for her warm reception and unwavering support for sports development in Oyo State.

Comrade Ajibola acknowledged the vital role of the government in creating an enabling environment for sports growth and pledged Oyo SWAN’s continued dedication to promoting sports awareness and highlighting the achievements of the Government and athletes within and outside the state.

Other Oyo SWAN Executive committee members present at the forum included the Associations’ Vice Chairman, Mr. Gbenga Olugbodi, Secretary Mr Boluwaji Ogunmola, Assistant Secretary Miss Anabel Enahoro as well as the Financial Secretary Mr. Wale Olaniyan(Lampard,).

The immediate Past Chairman Comrade Niyi Alebiosu as well as two renowned sports writers; Mr Ayodele Robinson and Mr Olanrewaju Ogundele were also part of the SWAN delegation who visited the Sports Commissioner.

The Director of Sports Administration at Oyo State Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mrs Adegoke joined the Commissioner in hosting the visitors.
