In a powerful display of leadership and spiritual solidarity, Amb. Abdul-Wasiu Tomiwa Omolewa “Tommy”, Chairman of the Oyo State Park Management System, convened over 40 PMS executives and members at his Ibadan residence for a special prayer session and lecture ahead of the Hajj pilgrimage. The gathering equipped intending pilgrims with essential materials and spiritual guidance, marking a united step toward the sacred journey to the Holy Land.
The programme featured Islamic clerics who delivered insightful lectures on the significance of Hajj, the importance of purity of intention, and adherence to the rites and obligations of the pilgrimage. Special prayers were also offered for the safety, acceptance, and successful completion of the Hajj rites by all intending pilgrims.
As part of his support and encouragement, Amb. Tommy generously provided essential pilgrimage materials to the beneficiaries. These included Ihram garments, customized bags, branded caps, and Ankara fabrics—items aimed at ensuring comfort, unity, and proper identification during the pilgrimage.
Speaking at the event, Amb. Tommy emphasized the importance of spiritual readiness, discipline, and representing Oyo State with dignity throughout the pilgrimage. He urged the pilgrims to be good ambassadors of the state and Nigeria at large, while praying for divine acceptance of their acts of worship.
The PMS Chairman also commended the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, for his visionary leadership and for the opportunity given to him to serve as Chairman. He noted that the level of support and inclusion currently enjoyed by PMS members, particularly in facilitating participation in Hajj, is unprecedented.
According to him, such opportunities for a large number of PMS executives and members to perform Hajj were not experienced in previous administrations. He highlighted that a significant number of members successfully performed the pilgrimage last year, with the number increasing this year and projected to grow even further in subsequent years.
Amb. Omolewa further expressed deep appreciation to Otunba Seye Famojuro for his continuous guidance, wise counsel, and unwavering support to the PMS leadership and members. He described him as a pillar of strength who has consistently been there for them.
“This is not just a journey; it is a sacred obligation that requires total devotion, humility, and discipline. I encourage all our pilgrims to uphold the values of Islam and return home spiritually renewed,” he added.
The beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation to the Chairman for his generosity and fatherly support, describing the gesture as timely, impactful, and a demonstration of true leadership and care for his members.
The initiative further underscores Amb. Tommy’s commitment to the welfare and spiritual growth of PMS members, reinforces unity and shared purpose within the organization.
