The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Digital, Information Communication Technology, and Cyber Security, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide, has been conferred with an Award of Excellence in Digital Innovation and Technology Advocacy by the Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
The prestigious recognition, which took place during the council’s end-of-year ceremony in Ibadan, is in acknowledgment of Hon. Olajide’s relentless commitment to fostering innovation and advancing technology-driven solutions within the country.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Olajide, who represents Ibadan North-west and Ibadan South-west federal constituency of Oyo state in the House of Representatives, expressed gratitude to the Oyo NUJ for the honour.
He described the media as a vital institution capable of propelling Nigeria towards economic and social greatness.
“The media is an institution that stands for excellence and I believe it holds the key to driving economic development and transforming our nation. I urge the media to continue using its platform to promote policies and initiatives that foster growth and innovation,” Hon. Olajide said.
Olajide also commended local government chairmen across Oyo State for their dedication to governance, noting that their efforts contribute significantly to grassroots development.
According to him, “We may be of different party extractions, but I must acknowledge that the chairmen are doing well. Let us all serve with the fear of God at all times to ensure the welfare of the people,” he added.
Hon. Olajide’s achievements in digital transformation have positioned him as a leading advocate for technology-driven governance and economic growth.
Under his leadership, the House Committee on Digital, ICT, and Cyber Security has championed legislative reforms aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s digital infrastructure and protecting its cyberspace.
The Oyo NUJ Chairman, Alhaji Ademola Babalola, praised Hon. Olajide’s contributions to the development of the technology sector, stating that the award was a recognition of his significant impact.
