Oyo Govt Sets to Launch Utility Card at Lekan Salami Stadium

The Oyo State Ministry of Youth and Sports is excited to announce the launch of Utility Card, a cutting-edge solution designed to simplify fee collection at the renowned Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

This is contained in a statement signed by the state Commissioner for the Ministry, Hon Wasilat Adegoke, issued in Ibadan and made available to newsmen.

Hon. Adegoke revealed with delight that, this marks the first time in West Africa that a contactless payment card will be rolled out at this scale, and the first-ever for a stadium in the region.

She declared that, innovative utility card will revolutionize payment processes for services and events at the stadium, offering visitors, fans, and other users a streamlined, cashless experience. The card promotes efficiency and convenience in managing stadium access and services, ensuring a hassle-free environment for all.

Adegoke said, following extensive consultations with key stakeholders, the Ministry is set to integrate the utility card with various services within the stadium, enhancing both fan experiences and facility management. Priced at ₦500, the card can be recharged via bank apps, POS devices, and at the stadium itself, offering multiple convenient options for users.

In her words: “This initiative is part of the state’s larger agenda to modernize sports infrastructure and improve service delivery at all sporting facilities. The Oyo State Utility Card will serve as a versatile payment tool for ticketing, parking, concessions, and other stadium services. The implementation will occur in phases, with regular updates provided to the public to ensure smooth adoption.
Reducing reliance on cash for quicker, more efficient payments. Minimizing risks associated with cash handling while increasing financial transparency.
Users can easily reload the card and monitor balances for a seamless experience.”

She, however, enjoin members of the public, sports enthusiasts, and stakeholders to support the successful rollout of this innovation.

“This initiative represents another milestone in Governor Seyi Makinde’s ongoing efforts to improve sports infrastructure and deliver world-class services to the people of Oyo State”, she concluded.
