Oyo 2027: Ex-Council Chair, Akani Mobilises Women For Dotun Sanusi

Alhaja Juliana Momopewa Akani, the immediate past chairperson of Olorunsogo Local Government Area, has rallied a coalition of women in the area to support the governorship ambition of Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi.

The former local government boss mobilised the women in a remarkable display of support to declare their unwavering allegiance to Chief Sanusi, the Chairman/CEO of Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort.

The mobilisation by Alhaja Akani reflected the growing popularity of Sanusi, the Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland, as a governorship hopeful in Oyo State, with an increasing number of supporters endorsing his leadership and vision for 2027.

Alhaja Akani, at a well-attended event, highlighted the philanthropic and humanitarian services of Chief Sanusi as catalysts behind the movement’s momentum, especially among women and youth.

“Despite ongoing intimidation and harassment from political functionaries attempting to dissuade supporters, the JDS Movement remains steadfast, with its influence and appeal strengthening across all 33 local governments in Oyo State. Chief Sanusi’s work speaks for itself.

“From building infrastructures to promoting human development and community projects, the actions of Chief Sanusi have positively impacted countless lives. This is why our support for him continues to grow. He is a man of action, not just words,” Alhaja Akani declared.

The rally also celebrated the commitment of Sanusi to developmental projects, including road construction, healthcare initiatives, educational programmes and empowering young people through sports.

The recent efforts with the JDS Football League 2024 underscore the dedication of Sanusi to youth engagement and empowerment through sports, giving talented youth opportunities to excel while fostering a sense of unity and pride within Oyo communities.

Alhaja Akani expressed confidence that Chief Sanusi’s administration would bring sustainable development to Oyo State if given the mandate, especially in areas that matter most to the grassroots.

With such enthusiastic mobilisation efforts underway and the strong resilience of the JDS Movement, support for the candidacy of Chief Sanusi continues to gain traction.

It is also setting the stage for a dynamic and influential campaign season as the 2027 governorship election approaches.
