Law Enforcement: OYMASED To Collaborate Oyo State Rule of Law and Enforcement Authority

Oyo State Mobilization Agency for Socio-Economic Development (OYMASED) has expressed its readiness to collaborate with Oyo State Rule of Law and Enforcement Authority to sensitize the populace on the rule of law.

The Director General of Oyo State Mobilization Agency for Socio-Economic Development,(OYMASED), Dr. Morohunkola Thomas made this known while receiving the Oyo State Rule of Law and Enforcement Authority, led by the Authority Chairperson, Rtd Justice Aderonke Aderemi during a courtesy visit paid to his office .

Dr. Morohunkola Thomas stated that residents attitudes concerning the rule of law is largely nonchalant which makes them disrespect the law and such an attitude will slow down the desired socio- economic development in the state.

The DG said this necessitated the state Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde to establish agencies to enlighten, mobilize and enforce obedience to the rule of law in the state.

He stated further that OYMASED is established with the responsibility of informing and mobilizing the citizens on benefits of obedience to the rule of law which is for socio-economic development.

Dr. Morohunkola Thomas noted that, ‘people now engage in open grazing, illegal dumping of refuse, violation of traffic light, child abuse, street trading among others and these are not acceptable as they have the capacity to slow down soci-economic development in our dear State’ .

In her Remarks, the Chairperson of Oyo State Rule of Law Authority, Rtd Justice Aderonke Aderemi said the Rule of Law and Enforcement Authority is established to ensure that people obey and comply with the laws.

She said the executive Governor of the state has passion for orderliness and anyone who violates traffic, envronment and open grazing of cattle laws as well as those who dump refuse indiscriminately will be prosecuted and punished in accordance with the laws.
She noted further that with the establishment of the authority, immediate judgement will be served on those who violates the law.

Rtd Justice Aderemi stated that the Authority has established some Tribunal at different Ministries and Agency such as OYRTMA and Min. Of Environment while that of Ministry of Works will be established soon.

Justice Aderemi (Rtd) explained further that the Authority is planning to establish mobile courts to be located at different geopolitical zones in the state.

She said anyone who violates the law of traffic, environment, open grazing and indiscriminate dumping of refuse will now be sentenced to prison or pay a stipulated fine as the court grants it’s judgement.
