Dotun Sanusi Installed As Asiwaju of Ona Ara Land

Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, the Jagunmolu Olubadan of Ibadanland and Chairman, Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort has been officially installed as the Asiwaju of Ona Ara Land by the Traditional Council of Ona Ara Local Government under the leadership of His Royal Majesty, Oba Kolawole Adegbola, the Otun Balogun of Ibadanland.

The event, which was chaired by His Royal Majesty, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, Balogun of Ibadanland and the immediate past Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government Traditional Council was held on Saturday at the main hall of the Local Government secretariat.

Representing His Royal Majesty, Oba Kolawole Adegbola, His Royal Highness, Oba Adebowale Kamorudeen Adeyemi, the Oniladuntan of Laduntan Crowned Chief Jubril Sanusi as Asiwaju of Ona Ara Land.

The event was attended by eminent personalities, including Chief Bayo Oyero, the Aare Mayegun of Ibadanland and former President General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII); Ibadan Royal Highnesses and Baales of Ibadanland.

Earlier in his welcome address, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola expressed gratitude to the Traditional Council Chairman, HRM Oba Kolawole Adegbola, who was represented by the Ona Ara Council of Royal Highnesses which include Oba Adebowale Kamorudeen JP, Oniladuntan of Laduntan; Oba Muili Mosaderin, Ololosunde of Olosunde; Oba Engr. Nureni Yusuf Adegbenro, Alajia of Ajia; Oba Yekini Obisesan Alakanran of Akanran and Oba Mudashiru Obisesan, Alararomi of Araromi for recognizing Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi’s invaluable contributions to the development of Ona Ara land.

Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, however, appealed to Chief Sanusi not to relent in his commitment to the development of communities in Ona Ara Local Government and Ibadanland at large.

The Executive Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government, Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS in his remarks commended the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.

He emphasized Chief Dotun Sanusi’s significant financial support to key projects in the ongoing ‘New Era’ administration.

The Council boss disclosed that many of the over 50 achievements recorded during his administration’s first 100 days in office were made possible by Chief Sanusi’s support.

In his brief remark, Chief Bayo Oyero further emphasized that the conferment of the Asiwaju of Ona Ara Chieftaincy title on Chief Sanusi was a well-deserved recognition of Dotun Sanusi’s tireless efforts in advancing the community’s development.

Oba Kamorudeen thereafter crowned Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi on behalf of the other Obas and Baales that constitutes the Traditional Council of Ona Ara Local Government before the representative of the Araba Awo of Ibadanland gave him leaves of honour.

Responding shortly after his installation, Chief Dotun Sanusi expressed his deep gratitude to His Royal Majesty, Oba Kolawole Adegbola and other members of Ona Ara Local Government Traditional Council for honouring him with Asiwaju Chieftaincy title.

In his words: “This recognition will further strengthens my resolve to continue my dedication to the service of humanity and the development of our communities. Together, we will keep working for a brighter and more prosperous Oyo State.”

Other highlights of the event was presentation of appreciation Gift by Ona Ara Development Forum (ODF).

On behalf of the sons and daughters of Ona Ara, Alhaji Kola Bolomope, the President of Ona Ara Development Forum (ODF), who was represented by Chief Dipo Gbenro, presented the gift as a symbol of appreciation to Chief Jubril Sanusi’s iconic and unprecedented commitment to the development of the land.

In their separate goodwill messages, various royal highnesses, including Oba Olasunkanmi Abioye Opeola, the Oniroko of Iroko; Oba Nureni Yusuf, Alajia of Ajia; HRH, Oba Gbolagade Muritala Babalola, the Onido of Ido and Oba Munirudeen Arigbabuwo, the Onilalulupon of Lalupon, praised Chief Sanusi’s efforts in enhancing the traditional system of Ibadanland.

Among the distinguished guests at the event included Dr. Abib Olamitoye, Chairman, Academy Suites and Ibadan Central Hospital; Chief Ademola Odunade, Asaaju Olubadan of Ibadanland; Mogaji Abass Oloko, Iyaloja of Oyo State, Alhaja Saratu Aduke Konibaje; Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade, representing Ibadan Mogajis; Chief Ademola Babalola, the state Chairman of NUJ and Alhaji Gbolayode Abass, the state President of Artisans.
