A A Chairman Assures Omitted Candidates of Restoration, Says Party Moves to Resolve INEC List

The presidential candidate and National Chairman of the Action Alliance (AA), Aare Adekunle Rufai Omo-Aje, has assured the party’s governorship, National Assembly and State House of Assembly candidates whose names were omitted from the final list published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that there is no cause for alarm, as the party has commenced moves to resolve the situation.

Speaking at a town hall meeting in Kaduna, Omo-Aje described the omission of some of the party’s candidates as a possible technical error, disclosing that the party’s legal team was preparing a formal complaint to INEC to facilitate a review of the published list and the restoration of the affected candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, the party’s legal team was preparing a formal complaint to INEC to draw the commission’s attention to the affected names and seek their prompt restoration.

Among the governorship candidates he identified as affected were Comrade Sikiru Bayo Titilola-Sodo of Oyo State, Barr. Eke Benjamin Israel of Rivers State, Abdullah-Bukharin of Nasarawa State and Zubairu Musa of Bauchi State.

Omo-Aje explained that the issue was not limited to governorship candidates, as several Action Alliance (A A) candidates contesting National Assembly and State Assembly seats were also reportedly missing from the published list.

He assured affected candidates and party supporters that the leadership of the party was following up on the matter and would continue to pursue all available administrative and legal channels until the issue was resolved.

According to him, the Action Alliance complied with the requirements and deadlines stipulated by INEC, expressing confidence that a review of the commission’s records would lead to the restoration of the omitted candidates.

He also called on party members, particularly those in the affected states, to remain calm and law-abiding while the party works to resolve the matter.

Omo-Aje commended the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, for what he described as transparent and committed leadership, expressing confidence in the commission’s ability to address the concerns raised by the party.

He said the AA remained committed to the rule of law, due process and credible elections, adding that the party would continue to pursue the matter through lawful channels.

The AA presidential candidate further urged INEC to strengthen its verification process before publishing final lists of candidates in order to minimise errors, anxiety and avoidable litigation ahead of elections.

He maintained that the party would continue its campaigns while working to protect the interests and mandates of all its duly nominated candidates.
