
The Oyo Alaafin Palace has announced the formation of a committee to oversee the upcoming installation ceremony of the Grand Chief Imam of Oyo Kingdom, Sheikh Imam Billal Husayn Akinola Akeugberu, scheduled for December 6, 2025. The committee, chaired by Imam Daud Igi Ogun, has begun preparations for the historic event, promising a dignified and culturally rich inauguration.
The Committee, chaired by Imam Daud Igi Ogun, *Khadeemul-l-Muslimeen of Oyo Kingdom,* with other members including Alhaji Chief Tajudeen Kamarise, Prince Lateef Owoade, Alhaji Rasaq Ogunbado, Dr. AbdulMumeen Hamzah, Alhaji Rauf, Dr. Ismail Abdur-Raheem Katayeyanjue, Hon. Tijani Daud, Ustaz Sulayman Esa Oke, Shaykh Mudeer Ajiginni, Alhaja Adewole, Alhaji Dr. Taofeek Lamidi (Ph.D), Dr. Mikail Adekunle Adesola, Elegbede Mayowa Rahman, Alhaji Moshood Daramola, Alhaji Teslim Abubakar, Alhaji Tijani Abideen, and Princess Fatimah Owoade.

Confirming the development to newsmen on Monday, the Grand Chief Imam’s media aide, Mallam Ibrahim Agunbiade, said the committee has already commenced work and is expected to deliver “a well-organised, dignified and culturally befitting inauguration in line with the rich Islamic and royal heritage of Oyo Kingdom.”
He added that further details regarding the venue and programme schedule would be made public in due course.
