Ibadan Travel And Tourism Expo Honoured At Oyo International Tourism Summit

Ambassadors Taiwo & Kehinde Oguntoye, fondly known as The Most Famous Twins in African Tourism recently received an Excellence Award for their contribution to tourism development through Ibadan Travel & Tourism Expo during the Governors’ Dinner and Tourism Excellence Awards at the Oyo State 2nd International Tourism Summit.

The prestigious Award was in recognition of their unwavering efforts in promoting Ibadan as a top travel and cultural destination in Nigeria and West Africa. As conveners of the annual Ibadan Travel and Tourism Expo, the twins have become synonymous with creative destination marketing, cultural pride, and grassroots tourism advocacy.

The Tourism Summit, held on Thursday at the International Conference Center, Ibadan and hosted by Governor Seyi Makinde, the award ceremony brought together key tourism stakeholders, policymakers, industry players, and cultural icons to celebrate outstanding contributions to the growth and promotion of tourism in Oyo State.

The Ibadan Travel and Tourism Expo (ITTE) was recognized for its impactful promotion of Destination Ibadan, its consistent efforts in spotlighting the city’s tourism potential, and its role in fostering both domestic and international collaborations in the travel and hospitality sectors.

The Oguntoye Twins’ consistent contribution to the visibility and growth of tourism in Ibadan and beyond has positioned them as cultural icons and influential voices in destination marketing. Through their flagship platform, the Ibadan Travel and Tourism Expo, they have successfully created one of the most dynamic tourism events in Nigeria, celebrating the city’s history, attractions, hospitality, and potential as a major tourism hub.

Speaking after receiving the award, Amb. Taiwo & Kehinde Oguntoye expressed their appreciation to the Oyo State Government under the leadership of Engr. Seyi Makinde, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism under the leadership of Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, the International Tourism Summit committee and all tourism stakeholders for the recognition.

“This honour is a testament to what is possible when we believe in our heritage, promote our stories, and work together to elevate our cities. Ibadan is rich in history, culture, and potential — and we remain committed to showcasing it to the world”, “This award is for Ibadan,” said Amb. Taiwo & Kehinde Oguntoye in their joint remarks.

“We dedicate it to the dream of positioning this historic city where it truly belongs — at the forefront of African tourism. From Mapo Hall to Bower’s Tower, from Amala spots to brown roof heritage trails, Ibadan is a canvas of untapped beauty — and we are proud to be its loudest promoters!”

As proud sons of Ibadan and committed tourism trailblazers, their work continues to echo the summit’s larger message: that Destination Ibadan is ready for the global stage.

Now in its third edition, the Ibadan Travel and Tourism Expo has grown into one of Nigeria’s most influential regional tourism events, attracting participants from across Africa and the diaspora. The 2026 edition scheduled for the month of April, promises to be even more impactful, building on the momentum and recognition gained through this latest honour.
