Former President Muhammadu Buhari Dies in London

The nation mourns the passing of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, who reportedly died this afternoon in a private clinic in London, United Kingdom.

The sad announcement was made by the family and confirmed in a statement signed by his former spokesperson, Garba Shehu, on Saturday, July 13, 2025.

Buhari, a retired Major General and two-time leader of Nigeria—first as a military Head of State (1983–1985) and later as a democratically elected president (2015–2023)—was a towering figure in Nigerian politics for decades.

“May Allah accept him into Aljannatul Firdaus,” the statement concluded.

Further details about funeral arrangements and official national mourning are expected to be released soon.
