OLUBADAN: Senator Akintunde Commiserates With Oyo Govt, Ibadan People On Monarch’s Passing

Senator Yunus Akintunde has commiserated with the Government of Oyo State and the people of Ibadanland on the passing of His Imperial Majesty, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.

In a condolence message released to the media through Kunle Olatunji his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Senator Akintunde expressed deep sadness over the demise of the revered monarch:

“I received the news of the passing of Kabiyesi, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, with great sorrow. The announcement came while the joy and excitement of celebrating his 90th birthday were still very much in the air.”

He described the late monarch as a unique and revered traditional ruler whose brief reign brought notable progress to Ibadanland.

“His Imperial Majesty was a remarkable custodian of tradition. Despite the short duration of his reign, Ibadanland witnessed several landmark achievements. His wealth of experience, exposure, and deep appreciation for the values of traditional institutions added immensely to his impactful leadership.”

Senator Akintunde extended his condolences to the Government of Oyo State, the Olakulehin family, and the entire Ibadanland community.

“I commiserate with the Government of Oyo State, the Olakulehin family, and the good people of Ibadanland on the passing of our great monarch. His death, coming shortly after his 90th birthday celebration, is a significant loss.”

He concluded with prayers for the repose of the monarch’s soul and for strength for those left behind.

“May Almighty God grant him eternal rest, and grant all of us — the Government and people of Oyo State, the Yoruba race, and particularly the people of Ibadanland — the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
