Olugbon of Orile-Igbon Hails Court Ruling, Urges Unity

The Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, His Royal Majesty, Oba Francis Olushola Alao, has welcomed the Oyo State High Court’s ruling dismissing a suit challenging his enthronement, describing it as a victory for peace and justice in the ancient town. The court held that the claimants lacked the locus standi to institute the legal action.

Reacting to the decision in a statement personally signed and released on Sunday, Oba Alao welcomed the ruling and commended the judiciary for what he described as a “sound judgment” after a “painstaking review” of the issues raised by both parties.

“I welcome this sound judgment from the temple of justice,” the monarch stated. “The judgment brought justice to the parties and, more importantly, to the ancient town of Orile-Igbon. Truly, the judiciary remains the hope of all citizens.”

Oba Alao also extended an olive branch to all princes and princesses of the Olugbon royal lineage, urging them to embrace the decision of the kingmakers and government in the interest of unity and development.

“Only God enthrones, and He crowns whoever He chooses. Let us put this behind us and join hands to develop Orile-Igbon together,” he said, stressing that “there is no loser or winner in this case.”

The monarch emphasized that Orile-Igbon, as a historical town, transcends the ambitions of any individual and must be preserved for future generations.

“I thank the chiefs, community leaders, and other stakeholders in Orile-Igbon for standing by us this far. May the Almighty God grant our desire for the peace and development of Orile-Igbon,” he concluded.

Oba Alao is the Vice Chairman of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs.
