Emmanuel Alayande University Management Visits Alaafin of Oyo ….. Unfolds Plan to Establish Alaafin Institute of Yoruba Studies

The authority of Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo, recently paid homage to the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I at his private palace in Oyo.

In a release made available by the University’s Media and Public Relations Officer, Wale Adeoye, the team, led by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Emeritus Professor Ayoade Olayiwola Ogunkunle was received by Iku baba yeye and his delectable wife, Olori Abiwumi Owoade by 2.15 p.m. Speaking during the visit, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Emeritus Professor Ayoade Olayiwola Ogunkunle appreciated Kabiyesi for the warm reception given to the team. “Kabiyesi Sir, we are here today to formally pay homage to the throne. Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo which grew from a College of Education into a university has been a blessing to the Oyo Kingdom. I am happy to report that Oyo town has the largest workforce among the staff of the university.”

Speaking further, the Oyo-born Agriculture Science don stated that “currently, the University has over five thousand (5,000) students cutting across different faculties while Oyo indigenes have over 35% of the student population. We have decided to establish Alaafin Institute of Yoruba Studies in your honour soon. It is our utmost hope that Kabiyesi shall give us the needed support to have the institute established. On behalf of the Governing Council, Management, Staff and Students of the University, I congratulate Your Imperial Majesty and wish you all the best on the throne of your forebears.”

In his brief remarks, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, thanked the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council and his team for the visit. He prayed for the institution and promised to offer needed support to the university from time to time.

On the team of the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council were the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olanrewaju Olaniyan, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibrahim Olatunde Salawu, Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mrs. Olubunmi Siju Asunmo, FCAI, Bursar, Mr. Olawole Adebayo Ojetola, FCA, Director of Works and Physical Planning, Engr. Jimoh Akintunde Bello, FNSE, Director, Directorate of Inter-Community and Alumni Relations, Dr. Rotimi Akanni, Media and Public Relations Officer, Wale Adeoye among others.
