Oyo NULGE President Hails Makinde Over Completion of Ultra-Modern LG Service Complex

The Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has been greatly commended over the successful completion of the ultra-modern Local Government Service Commission complex and Staff Training School at the state secretariat, Ibadan.

Comrade Ayobami Adeogun, the state President of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) gave the commendation in Ibadan on Monday while speaking with newsmen shortly after Governor Seyi Makinde’s unscheduled inspection tour of the facility within the Secretariat Complex, Agodi, Ibadan.

Comrade Adeogun in his brief remark described the iconic and landmark project as unprecedented in the history of the state, that it would enhance local governance, improve service delivery and productivity of his members.

According to him “this development is no doubt, dawn of a new era in the local government system of the state. It is a state of the art ultra modern facility that local government staff have been in dire need of.

“Prior to now, the local government service commission has no single building of its own in the entire state secretariat, the commission only shares a small part of ground floor at the state Water Corporation building,” he stated.

“With the completion of the Local Government Service Commission Complex and Training School, our members will now have conducive venue for periodic training and retraining on capacity building to become more effective and productive.

“Working in the local government civil service should not just be about turning up at work by 8a.m and returning home by 4pm without any sense of personal growth and fulfilment as individuals. This is 21st century and our members also deserve career fulfillment under the commission.

“Governor Makinde, during the inauguration ceremony, emphasized his administration’s commitment to strengthening local governance and I want to say that we’re with him on that and to fully collaborate with his administration to ensure local government administration gains its rightful place.

“Empowering our local governments is crucial for the overall development of Oyo State. These facilities will not only improve the working conditions for our staff but also ensure better service delivery to our people at the grassroots,” Comrade Adeogun said.

While advocating for the welfare of local government employees across the 33 local government areas of the state, Oyo NULGE President pledged to collaborate with the state government to maximize the benefits of the new facilities.

Earlier in his remarks during the inspection tour, governor Seyi Makinde disclosed that the facility would be officially commissioned next week Wednesday, 2nd October in commemoration of Nigeria’s Independence celebration.
