Oyo State Contingent Returns Home, Eyes Set on Next National Sports Festival

The last batch of Oyo State’s contingents has returned from the 8th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State, and preparations are already underway for the biennial National Sports Festival scheduled to take place in Ogun State next year.

According to Tobi Ajewole, BCOS reporter at the recently concluded National Youth Games, Oyo State made an impressive showing by securing 10 gold, 7 silver, and 10 bronze medals to finish 7th in the overall standings. This marks a significant improvement from last year’s performance, where the state won 4 gold, 4 silver, and 9 bronze medals.

While commending Team Oyo, Mr. Tunde Ajibike, General Manager of the Oyo State Sports Council, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, urging the athletes to continue balancing their educational pursuits with their sporting endeavors. “We’re proud of our athletes’ achievements, and we encourage them to keep pushing themselves both on and off the field,” Ajibike said.

During the 10-day event in Asaba, Oyo State’s Youth and Sports Commissioner, Honorable Wasilat Adegoke, spent quality time with the athletes and officials, conveying the state government’s goodwill and support.
