Oyo Govt Frowns at Indiscriminate Dumping of Refuse

The Oyo State Government has frowned at the indiscriminate dumping of refuse on road medians.

The Director General, Oyo State Mobilization Agency for Socio-Economic Development (OYMASED), Dr Morohunkola Thomas stated this while speaking with journalists in Ibadan.

Dr Morohunkola Thomas stated that the State government has observed that people are no longer dumping their refuse in the right channel, hence the need for a call to action by all.

The OYMASED Director General also opined that dumping of refuse in drainages can cause blockage thereby leading to flood in the environment.
He noted that according to NIMET prediction, the State is amongst states that would be experiencing flood this year.

He said there is a need for a proactive approach to dumping of refuse especially this rainy season period.
While calling on people of Oyo State to desist in illegal dumping of refuse, the OYMASED DG said any one found guilty will be given appreciate punishment by the Rule of Law Enforcement Agency.

‘ Our Environment is very dirty, especially Ibadan Metropolis, our people need re-orientation.The State government will impose appropriate penalties on anyone whose shop or business is facing a road median where refuse had been dropped. We have a responsibility to join hands with the Seyi Makinde administration to promote a cleaner environment which is a prerequisite for preventing the outbreak of diseases in our communities’, he said.
