Hon. Shittu Ibraheem, representing Saki West State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, has distanced himself from the Assembly’s approval of a ₦300 billion loan, citing lack of proper communication about the emergency plenary session that approved the facility. According to Hon. Ibraheem, the session was convened on August 19 and finalized on August 26, 2025, while the House was on recess, and he was among other lawmakers not informed or involved in the decision.
According to him, the emergency sitting, convened on August 19 and perfected on August 26, was not properly communicated to all members, including himself. “I was not among other lawmakers who approved this loan. The House is currently on recess, yet an emergency plenary session was arranged to approve such a huge facility without informing all members,” he stated.

Hon. Ibraheem questioned the necessity of the loan, describing it as ill-timed given the state’s improved financial standing. “This is a period when all states are enjoying significant revenue boosts. Oyo State currently receives about a 500% increase in its FAAC allocation. Why then take such a huge loan? Why classify it as an emergency? Why was the sitting not communicated to all honorable members?” he queried.
The lawmaker’s remarks have stirred conversations about transparency and inclusiveness in legislative decisions, particularly when public borrowing is involved.
