Dotun Sanusi Garners Massive Support on Oyo 2027

The 2027 ambition of Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi (JDS ) to become the governor of Oyo State has received a big boost as he garnered massive support from a large crowd of supporters on Tuesday.

In an unprecedented show of support the multitude of supporters, who converged on Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resorts on Tuesday, urged Sanusi, a prominent Ibadan billionaire, to run for the governorship election in 2027.

The event drew a diverse crowd, including associations, political groups, artisans, pensioners and community leaders who all united in their call on Sanusi to lead the state from 2027.

The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm, as speakers praised Sanusi for his contributions to Oyo’s socio-economic and political landscape.

His effective resource management and philanthropic track record positioned him as the ideal candidate to guide the state toward prosperity.

Supporters included groups such as widows, public speakers, patent medicine dealers, welders, and goldsmiths, all voicing their unwavering support for Sanusi.

Chief Waheed Adurodekun, a respected political leader and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), encouraged attendees to promote Sanusi’s candidacy. He emphasised his potential for transformative change.

Adurodekun highlighted how the philanthropic efforts and business acumen of Sanusi would form a solid foundation for effective governance.

To ensure transparency and inclusivity, a register booklet was distributed to gather data on supporters.

Organisers of the event assured attendees that their contributions would not go unnoticed, promising the good governance Sanusi aims to deliver.

Expressing gratitude to the enthusiastic crowd, Sanusi revealed that he had initially planned to support another candidate but felt compelled to reconsider his stance due to the overwhelming calls from the people.

He pledged to prioritise the welfare of Oyo residents, citing his philanthropic experience as a testament to his commitment.

Sanusi shared a touching anecdote about the Baales of Ibadan, who personally contributed funds to support his bid. This, he said, reinforced his resolve to serve the state with humility and dedication.

In a significant political statement, Sanusi announced he is currently unaffiliated with any party but would join the one that offers him its governorship ticket.

He emphasised that his supporters’ decisions would be paramount, prompting chants of “PDP! PDP!” from the crowd, signaling their preference and energising the political atmosphere.

The event at Ilaji Resort marks a pivotal moment in Oyo State politics, with the name of Sanusi becoming synonymous with leadership and good governance.
