The All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Wing is set to strengthen coordination among its nationwide women structures as leaders, grassroots mobilisers and other stakeholders from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory converge on Abuja today, Monday, October 5, 2026, for a strategic national summit ahead of the 2027 general elections. Convened at the instance of the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, in collaboration with the APC National Women Leader, Dr. Mary Alile Idele, the summit is expected to provide a platform for stakeholders to deliberate on strategies for deeper grassroots engagement, stronger internal coordination and increased participation of women in political organisation and democratic processes.
A major focus of the summit is the development of a coordinated approach to grassroots mobilisation, with participants expected to deliberate on strengthening ward and polling-unit structures, improving communication among national, zonal, state and local women leaders, and developing more effective channels for engaging women directly within their communities. The meeting will also examine ways of promoting women’s economic and social empowerment, expanding their participation in political organisation and decision-making, and improving awareness of government interventions and development programmes that affect families and communities.

Another major priority will be expanding women’s participation in political organisation and ensuring that women remain active contributors to decision-making and democratic development.

As the political landscape gradually shifts towards 2027, the APC Women Wing is positioning its nationwide network as a significant grassroots mobilisation force.
The summit is also expected to strengthen engagement around the Renewed Hope Agenda and encourage women stakeholders to communicate government programmes more effectively within their respective communities.
With the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and APC National Women Leader, Dr. Mary Alile Idele, providing leadership to the initiative, the Abuja gathering is expected to deepen unity among women stakeholders and strengthen the party’s grassroots structures nationwide.
The arrival of delegations from across the federation has already begun, signalling the commencement of what stakeholders describe as an important phase in the nationwide coordination of APC women ahead of 2027.
