Members of the public, particularly residents and Muslim faithful within Oluyole Extension Area 2 and its environs in Ibadan, will today, Saturday, August 16, 2026, witness the official commissioning of the newly completed ultra-modern Central Mosque at Peluseriki, off the New Garage/Apata Expressway, popularly known as Akala Way.
The landmark ceremony is expected to attract prominent personalities, religious leaders, community leaders and other distinguished guests who will gather to celebrate the completion of the mosque and its anticipated contribution to the spiritual and communal development of the area.

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, will grace the occasion as the Special Guest of Honour.

Other distinguished personalities expected at the event as Special Guests include the Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Nureni Adeniran; the Director-General of the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN), Dr. Abdrasheed Adedeji; and Prof. Abideen Olaiya.
The commissioning programme will also feature two major Islamic lectures by renowned scholars.
The first lecture will be delivered by Alhaji Imam Issa Akindele, Vice Chairman of the Supreme Council for Sharia, who will speak on the topic, “The Central Mosque: A Beacon of Worship, Knowledge and Service.”
The second lecture will be delivered by Dr. Yunus Teliat Ayilara II, the Grand Chief Imam of Ogbomoso Land, on the topic, “The Mosque Beyond the Five Daily Prayers: Its Role in Community Building.”
The choice of the two topics underscores the broader significance of the mosque as not only a place of worship, but also a centre for knowledge, moral guidance, social interaction and community development.
The Chief Host of the landmark occasion is Chief Abdurahman Olatunde, the Mogaji of Peluseriki, while Alhaji Azeez Jimoh, Alhaji Abiodun Baruwa, Prof. AbdHakeem Tijani and Alhaji Muritala Odesola are the Hosts.
The organisers have extended a cordial invitation to members of the public, Islamic scholars, community leaders, residents of Oluyole Extension and Muslim faithful from across Ibadan and beyond to join them in marking what is expected to be a memorable milestone in the history of Peluseriki.
The commissioning of the ultra-modern Central Mosque is expected to further strengthen Islamic worship and learning while providing an enduring platform for community engagement, unity and development in Peluseriki and the wider Oluyole Extension area.
