The Oyo State Chapter of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) on Wednesday embarked on a simultaneous environmental sanitation exercise across all Local Government Areas and zones of the state as part of activities commemorating the third day of its ongoing 40th Anniversary celebration. The initiative underscored the association’s enduring commitment to community development, public health and environmental sustainability.
The coordinated sanitation campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation by members of the association, who cleaned markets, mosques and other public places while promoting cleaner and healthier surroundings.

According to Dr. Lateefat Dairo, the Amirah (president) of the association, the exercise reflected FOMWAN’s resolve to complement government efforts towards ensuring a safe, hygienic and disease-free environment for all residents.
Beyond the physical clean-up, members also engaged residents in awareness campaigns on the importance of environmental sanitation, proper waste disposal and healthy living. They urged members of the public to embrace cleanliness as a collective responsibility, stressing that maintaining a healthy environment is essential for the well-being and sustainable development of every community.
