Retired HoS, PS Hold Maiden Reunion Meeting In Ibadan

Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries from Oyo and Osun States (old Oyo State) under the aegis of the Association of Retired Heads of Service/Permanent Secretaries Oyo/Osun States (AREHSPSOOS) have concluded arrangements to hold its maiden reunion general meeting.

The event tagged the AREHSPSOOS Day with the theme “Re-Engineering The Engine Room: The Civil Service as the Fulcrum of Sustainable Development”, is billed for August 21st, 2024, at the Omolayole Hall, International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan.

According to a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Association, Mrs Aderonke Makanjuola, the day is principally to celebrate members for their individual and collective contributions to the Civil Service, in particular, and the larger society, in general.

It is also targeted at bringing retired HoS & PS together in a non-formal, convivial, and relaxed atmosphere to reminisce and improve experiences in the service and improve their mental and physical well-being.

The event, the organisers additionally said, will serve as an opportunity to bring the past (the retirees) and the present (serving officers) together in an informal setting with a view to cross-fertilising ideas for personal and service growth.

With the kick-off of the maiden edition, the Association expresses optimism that the celebration will, henceforth, be an annual event which will be held on the 21st of August of every year, and the date is known as the World Senior Citizens’ Day globally.

The high point of the celebration will be the recognition and presentation of awards to credible and high-profile individuals who have positively impacted society, while octogenarians within the Association, will also be specially recognised and given awards.

Voluntary membership of the Association is open to retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries of the old and new Oyo and Osun States of Nigeria.

The overall objective of the Association is to provide an avenue for members to interact from time to time.

The Association has five trustees known as “The Registered Trustees of the Association of Retired Head of Service/Permanent Secretaries Oyo/States” who are seventy years and above, the statement added.
